ADHD Coaching

ADHD Coaching: Summary

Our coaching program is for the individual who is looking for hands-on, comprehensive care for their ADHD. They are looking not just for medication management, but help from a caring expert on how to live with ADHD. They have goals but struggle at implementing techniques to help reach them, and they want to meet with someone regularly who can help them master their ADHD.

Our coaching program will help you become an ADHD Warrior.

There are two things that are crucial to your success in becoming an ADHD Warrior. You need to know that:

  • Change occurs with small, consistent steps taken over time.

  • In order for change to occur, you need to have an open mind and a willingness to try different things.

Consistency.

We will meet regularly to assist you or your child in taking the steps needed to make the changes that are important to you. We will also review medications at this time, if applicable. This program is about making lifestyle changes in order to reach your individual goals. We are here to work with you, and in order for us to do our best work, we need to see you on a regular basis.

Creativity.

We are as hands-on as you need us to be. With over 10 years of experience working with ADHD patients, we have a huge bag of ‘tricks’ to pull from. We know that each individual’s ADHD is different, and when we work with you, we educate, set goals, review progress, and help you make the changes you desire. If you need someone to help you start a bullet journal or a reward system, we can do just that!

Versatility.

We can help you with the following topics and more:

  • Managing your ADHD

  • Organization

  • Procrastination

  • Motivation

  • Developing routines and good habits

  • General study skills

  • Self-care to minimize emotional flooding

  • Mild anxiety

  • Parenting

More details:

  • Our coaching program is less intensive than therapy, but more hands-on than a typical medication management appointment.

  • For young patients (younger than high school), our ADHD coaching will come in the form of parenting appointments. We will help the parent learn how to manage their child’s ADHD.

  • For high school and college aged patients, our coaching program will be geared more towards teaching the patient how to manage their ADHD directly, and equip them with life skills for the future.

  • It is possible to opt into only into our coaching program. Some of our patients choose not to use medication management to treat their ADHD symptoms.

A Sample Appointment:

  • Touch base:

Recap any life changes that have occurred to you since your last appointment with your provider. Relay to your provider what ADHD management techniques have been working, and which ones have not. Report any insights you may have had about yourself or your ADHD since your last appointment.

  • Medication management:

Make changes to your medication plan if necessary. If you do not have your medication managed by us (or don’t take any medication at all), we may skip this part of the appointment. We may also discuss the latest ADHD research or adjunct treatments, such as supplements, if appropriate.

  • Make a plan:

Review your goals and formulate a plan with your provider on how you can best manage your ADHD in order to achieve those goals. This part of the appointment may be the longest as your provider relays resources or suggestions. In a month, you will meet with your provider again to check in with your progress and make any needed changes.
